Description
MITRE’s Research in Quantum Software Engineering The MITRE Corporation, a not-for-profit manager of Federally Funded Research and Development Centers, has spent several years exploring the rapidly growing landscape of quantum software tooling, design, and engineering through its MITRE Independent Research program. Joe Clapis, a lead engineer on their quantum software engineering group, would like to share the story of his journey. Between comparing nascent quantum frameworks, studying the practicality of novel quantum algorithms, bridging the gaps between algorithm researchers and software engineers, and building an Intro to Quantum Software semester course for high school and college students, Joe has seen the field evolve from its humble beginnings to the impressive presence it holds today. In this presentation he will share his lessons learned, industry insights, and forecasts for where things are headed in the future. Speaker: Joe Clapis, MITREJoe Clapis, Lead Software Systems Engineer at The MITRE Corporation Joe Clapis is a Lead Software Systems Engineer at The MITRE Corporation. He has over 10 years of experience in a variety of software domains, from machine vision to virtualization, and now currently works on quantum software systems. His latest research involves bridging the gap between quantum algorithm theories and their practical implementations and developing educational material to bolster the quantum software workforce.
